Grand Public Programme, Visit Our Mosque in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar: There are certain misconceptions about religious centres that need to be cleared to create a healthy societal atmosphere, said Muhammad Kunni, the state secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka.

Speaking at a Masjid Darshan programme at Madina Masjid, Chamarajanagar, near Mysore on Monday Kunni said it was with this motive this Visit Our Mosque programme was organised. Coincidentally today is the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Messenger of Islam whose teachings brought peace and eradicated inequality and injustice in Arabia, he said.

Muhammad Kunni stated, Masjid Darshan is a programme that gives knowledge to every human being. Any human being without knowledge of that religion and preconceived notions develops an attitude of hatred.  Kunni also said there are misconceptions in society about mosques. A mosque is a specific place of worship. He opined that an environment should be created where people visit various religious centres freely.

Shri. Sarpabhoshana Swamy of Channabasaveshwar Mutt said visiting a mosque enhances spirituality and harmony. Mosque is a holy place and if the public gets free access to mosques, the misunderstanding and gap between people of other religions will be removed.

Maulana Jafar Hussain, chief Qazi of Chamarajanagar, Fr. Antonappa, St. Paul Church, also spoke on the occasion.

Puttarangshetty, AR Krishnamurthy and H.M. Ganesh Prasad, MLAs from Chamarajanagar, Kollegal and Gundalpet respectively graced the dais. Dr. Basava Rajendra, Dr. Shweta and tens of other dignitaries participated in the programme presided over by Madina Masjid President Naeem Ul Haq.

Special dinner was also served to around one thousand participants.
