Group Commander Mohammad Jamal Khan, a resident of Bara-Gazipur, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on Independence Day 2025. He is a senior officer of the National Security Guard (NSG) and has been recognised for his dedication and service in strengthening internal security and counter-terrorism in India.
Khan is a postgraduate in Science from Aligarh Muslim University. He has shown exceptional leadership and professional skills in his career. He successfully led several operations against terrorists and Maoists in disturbed regions of the country. His role was crucial in restoring peace and neutralising threats.
As Director of the National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC), he supervised the investigation of many high-profile blasts. This included the 2019 Pulwama suicide vehicle attack. His work greatly strengthened India’s counter-terrorism framework.
Khan has received several honours in the past. These include the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2019, the Union Home Minister’s Ati Utkrishta Seva Medal, and the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Training. These awards reflect his contribution in both operations and training.
He has also represented India at global forums. He attended sessions of the United Nations and the Interpol Global Congress. His participation strengthened India’s role in international security cooperation.
This Independence Day recognition highlights his service and inspires excellence in India’s security and armed forces. The people of his region have celebrated this honour with pride.
