National Hajj Conference Meets in Mumbai to Finalise India’s 2026 Pilgrimage Plans

Mumbai: The Ministry of Minority Affairs will hold a National Hajj Conference at Haj House on Saturday to finalise India’s preparations for Hajj 2026. The meeting will be chaired by Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs. Senior officials from all State and Union Territory Hajj Committees will attend.

The Ministry aims to ensure a safe and smooth experience for the estimated 1,75,000 Indian pilgrims expected to travel next year. Officials will review coordination between State Committees and the Hajj Committee of India to strengthen planning and communication.

The agenda includes a detailed assessment of accommodation and logistics. Officials will examine arrangements with domestic and Saudi agencies to confirm timely access to housing, food services, and support facilities. Transportation and baggage handling will also receive attention. The Ministry plans to improve movement systems and introduce clearer baggage protocols for pilgrims.

Training standards for Hajj Assistants and Inspectors will be reviewed. The Ministry wants trained field staff who follow discipline and operational procedures throughout the pilgrimage period.

Medical preparedness is another priority. The conference will assess pre-departure medical screening, vaccination, and certification. It will also focus on the readiness of medical teams in line with Saudi Arabia’s health requirements.

The Ministry said the conference will help identify operational gaps and improve coordination across agencies. It aims to strengthen safety measures and service delivery before the 2026 Hajj season.
