New Delhi: The General Body Meeting of Delhi State unit of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC) was held at Ghalib Academy, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Professor Mohammad Idris. In his address, he emphasised the importance of taking advantage of schemes offered by the central and state governments.

Office-bearers of the Youth Wing, Academic Wing, Pharmacy Wing, and Technical Wing of AIUTC also attended the meeting and shared their views on the promotion of Unani medicine.

The meeting expressed regret over the closure of TKDL, stating that it had been an excellent platform for highlighting the vast resources of AYUSH literature.

It was also unanimously decided during the meeting that steps should be taken to ensure the establishment of the proposed Unani Medical College at Jamia Millia Islamia. At an event organised by AIUTC on March 17, 2023, the then Vice-Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar had not only announced the establishment of Hakim Luqman Unani Medical College but practical steps had also been initiated. However, after her retirement, the matter was shelved. It is hoped that the current Vice-Chancellor will take the necessary measures for the development of Hakim Luqman Unani Medical College.

On this occasion, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Secretary General of AIUTC, urged Unani doctors to further strengthen and energise the organisation and appealed for spreading the movement of AIUTC at the national level with a positive outlook.

He further said that the thoughts and ideals of Maseeh-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan are equally beneficial for both national and medical interests. Therefore, the institutions established by him should be further developed, and a museum in his memory should be established at A&U Tibbia College as soon as possible.

Dr. Shahid Shah Chaudhry, National General Secretary of AIUTC Academic Wing, stressed the need to improve the quality of medicines. Hakim Arbabuddin, National President of the Pharmacy Wing, emphasised the need to improve the supply of medicines and increase sales counters.

Hakim Hafiz Uzair Baqai, General Secretary of the Pharmacy Wing, described updating knowledge through CME as essential and said that the Pharmacy Wing would make arrangements for it.
