Tonk, August 16: Hamna Khan, a young sports prodigy from Tonk, Rajasthan, has once again brought pride to her hometown by securing a place at Loughborough University in England, the world’s leading institution for sports studies. This accomplishment adds to her impressive list of achievements, including winning the Under-14 Karate World Championship during her childhood.
Loughborough University has been consistently ranked as the top university globally for sports-related subjects for the past eight years and is positioned 7th in the Complete University Guide 2025. Admission to this prestigious institution is based on a comprehensive evaluation of a student’s conduct, skills, and academic performance. Hamna applied for a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Sports Psychology, showcasing her commitment to blending academics with her passion for sports.
On August 15, 2024, following the announcement of her exam results, Hamna received a congratulatory message from Loughborough University, confirming her admission. Her acceptance into such a distinguished program makes her the first girl from Rajasthan to achieve this milestone, setting a precedent for other aspiring students from Tonk.
Hamna hails from the esteemed Taj family of Tonk. Her father, Ashfaq Khan, expressed immense gratitude and pride in his daughter’s accomplishment, emphasizing that her success will inspire other children in the region to aim for higher educational opportunities. Her mother, Naghma Khan, highlighted the family’s longstanding tradition of social service, mentioning that Hamna’s grandparents, Ahsan Rashid and Najma Ahsan, have dedicated their lives to serving the community. Naghma also vowed to continue guiding the youth of Tonk towards better educational prospects.
