Hathras Satsang Tragedy: Mushawarat Demands Strict Action against Negligence, Adequate Compensation to Victims

5 July 2024: Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident at the Hathras satsang, Professor Mohammad Sulaiman, Vice President of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (Registered), has demanded strict action against negligence and adequate compensation. He stated that such incidents have become a fate for the Indian public, and the administration is not prompt enough to prevent and tackle them.

In a statement issued here today, he expressed profound grief over the deaths caused by the stampede at the Hathras satsang, offering condolences for the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. He said that if the administration had been prompt and proper police arrangements were in place, this incident would not have occurred, and so many innocent lives would not have been lost. This incident has also exposed the state’s healthcare management, as the injured had to be transferred to multiple neighbouring districts for treatment. Timely treatment could have saved many lives.

Professor Sulaiman demanded that the government provide appropriate and timely treatment for the injured and give harshest punishment to those responsible, in order to prevent such incidents in the future. He also demanded compensation of one crore rupees for each deceased and injured person.

Mohammad Shamsul Zuha, Treasurer of the organisations also expressed deep sorrow over this tragic incident. He urged all Muslim organizations to stand with the injured and the bereaved in this hour of distress and use their resources to meet their needs.
