Hazratbal Shrine Undergoes Major Renovation, Project Inaugurated

Srinagar: The Dargah Hazratbal, one of the most revered shrines in Jammu and Kashmir, has received a major facelift with the completion of a large-scale construction and beautification project. Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board inaugurated the renovated shrine on Wednesday, marking the end of months of extensive work.

The project was launched last year to strengthen the structure of the shrine and enhance its spiritual and cultural environment. Renovations included rebuilding and plastering the inner sections of the shrine using traditional heritage crafts. The interiors were upgraded with gold carvings, khatamband, papier machie, pinjrakari, calligraphy, and glass artwork. Magnificent chandeliers inscribed with Quranic verses were installed, creating a visually striking atmosphere for visitors.

In addition to architectural improvements, the shrine now has a modern digital electric system, a full air-conditioning setup, and a new sound system. The Noor-Khana section of the shrine was also redesigned, turning it into one of the highlights of the project.

A short documentary film on the renovation was also presented to showcase the scope of the project.

The Waqf Board stated that the improvements are part of its ongoing efforts to develop religious sites and provide better facilities for devotees. The shrine’s enhanced features are expected to accommodate large gatherings, especially during major religious events like Milad.
