He cannot be a true Muslim if his neighbor sleeps hungry while he eats to his fill: Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi

Mumbra: Addressing a public gathering on “Serving Humanity Beyond Religious and Sectarian Divisions” organized by Rahma Foundation, Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi emphasized the ethical responsibilities of Muslims in light of the Quran and Hadith. He stated, “One cannot be a true and steadfast Muslim if his neighbor is hungry while he himself sleeps on a full stomach.” Maulana Azmi further stated, “The Quran commands justice among people regardless of religion, urges kindness, eliminates evils, spreads goodness in society, and eradicates oppression from the earth.”
The gathering, held at Mittal Ground was presided over by Maulana Ahmad Ali Nadwi (Khalifa and representative of Maulana Munir Ahmad) and supervised by Quranic scholar Maulana Salamatullah Nadwi, also included a ceremony for students of Rahma Masjid who had completed their Islamic studies.
Abu Talib Rahmani, a member of the executive council of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board highlighted the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings on fulfilling one’s duties without expecting anything in return. “Unfortunately, in our community today, we see rising disputes over divorce and property matters,” he remarked. He emphasized that “Islam first teaches us to treat all human beings with kindness and respect.” He praised the Muslims of Prayagraj (Allahabad) for opening their homes and mosques to those injured during the Kumbh Mela.
Maulana Ahmad Ali Nadwi, in his brief address, posed a thought-provoking question: “If we are asked in our graves how we utilized the blessings bestowed upon us whether we used them for humanity and brotherhood, what answer will we have?”
