Hindu Outfit Leader Booked for Reciting Hanuman Chalisa Outside Mosque in Meerut

Meerut: A Hindu outfit leader has been booked for allegedly disrupting communal harmony by reciting Hanuman Chalisa near a mosque inside the Cantonment area in Meerut, police said on Wednesday, reported the Rediff.
According to officials, Sachin Sirohi, who claims to be the national president of All Bhartiya Hindu Suraksha Sansthan, along with unidentified individuals, created a ruckus outside the mosque on Monday. The group reportedly declared the mosque illegal before reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and allegedly issuing threats to demolish it.
The incident led to panic among locals, particularly around the nearby railway station and parking area, police noted in their report. In response, members of the Muslim community, including mosque caretaker Taskeen Salmani, filed a complaint demanding action against Sirohi and his associates.
Circle Officer Santosh Kumar Singh stated, “Sirohi has been booked under relevant sections of BNS, and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.” When asked about the legality of the mosque, he clarified, “We cannot decide this matter. Only the court can rule on it.”
Meanwhile, a delegation from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) met Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, urging strict action against Sirohi under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
