Udupi: Amidst growing political tensions, a group of Hindu youths from the villages of Ananthadi, Kodaje, and Mani in Bantwal district chose to spread a message of peace and unity by distributing sweets to Muslims during the Eid Milad procession on Monday. Their actions came as a significant gesture while leaders from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal led the Chalo BC Road protest, reported The Times of India.
DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla, sharing a video of the event, praised these young men for upholding humanitarian values, stating, “These peace-loving Hindu youths have shown the importance of promoting harmony, especially in these challenging times. Despite politically motivated tensions over the weekend, they made the conscious decision to counter hate with love and compassion.”
Katipalla also took the opportunity to urge political leaders, particularly Sharan Pumpwell, Puneeth Attavar, and MLAs Bharath Shetty and D. Vedavyas Kamath, to learn from the actions of these youths. He emphasized that the youth have set an example for others by fostering peace and goodwill within the community.
Similar scenes of communal amity were reported across Dakshina Kannada district, with both Hindus and Christians coming together to offer sweets to Muslims during the Eid Milad celebrations. These gestures served as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of unity in times of division.
