Hindutva Groups Celebrate After Cops Parade and Thrash Muslim Youths in Ujjain

Ujjain: Right-wing groups Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad celebrated police officers for publicly flogging two Muslim youths accused of cow slaughter in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. They garlanded and offered sweets to the officers in appreciation.
Horrifying videos show police forcing the youths to chant, “Gau hamari mata hai, police hamara baap hai” (Cow is our mother, police is our father).
The victims, Salim Mewati and Aqib Mewati, were brutally assaulted. A day later, right-wing groups praised Gahtiya police station inspector DL Dasoriya for his role in the incident.
According to Ujjain Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargav, police raided the Ghatiya area on February 16 after receiving a tip-off about cow slaughter. They seized vehicles and meat and arrested two individuals, while a third suspect is being tracked.
The viral videos triggered a backlash, with many accusing the police of taking the law into their own hands.
Journalist Kashif Kakvi remarked, “In Ujjain, Bajrang Dal and VHP felicitated inspector DL Dasoriya for arresting two Muslims accused of attempting cow slaughter and publicly punishing them. The police acted on Bajrang Dal’s tip-off, so right-wing workers honored him for this so-called noble act.”
