Hindutva Mob Attacks Madrasa, Sets Dargah on Fire in Telangana; CCTV Footage Shows Monkeys Behind Idol Damage

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Telangana’s Jinnaram village, Sangareddy district, members of Hindutva groups launched a violent attack on a madrasa and a nearby dargah on April 23, alleging desecration of Hindu idols by Muslim students. The situation turned volatile as the mob assaulted students and teachers of the Taleem-ul-Quran madrasa and later set parts of the Hazrat Gharib Shah Wali dargah on fire, reported the Hindustan Times.
The right-wing activists accused the madrasa students of vandalising two Shiva idols. Several students and staff were reportedly beaten, and threats of further violence were made. While police intervened and dispersed the mob from the madrasa premises, the attackers regrouped and marched toward the shrine, desecrating it and defiling the sacred chadar offered at the dargah.
Heavy police deployment followed in the area to control the tense atmosphere. The madrasa management and local Muslim community expressed strong condemnation, staging protests and demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. Complaints were filed by the madrasa authorities, the Dargah Committee, and a nearby mosque.
AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and other leaders met with the District Superintendent of Police to seek urgent action. Additionally, Congress leader Mohammad Faheem Qureshi and party members submitted a formal complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP), pressing for swift justice.
Despite the seriousness of the crime, no arrests have been made yet, which has further angered the local community. Police officials have, however, confirmed the registration of cases and identification of individuals involved in mobilising the mob.
This incident echoes a similar event from February, where Hindutva groups had accused Muslims of desecrating a Hanuman temple by throwing meat inside. However, CCTV footage later revealed that a cat had entered the temple and caused the confusion.
