Historic Decisions Taken for Farmers’ Welfare at ‘Kisan Samadhan Sabha’

Akola – In a significant move for farmers’ welfare, several crucial resolutions were passed at the ‘Kisan Samadhan Sabha’ organized by Shetkari Vikas Manch Maharashtra on Sunday, February 16, at Pramilatai Oak Auditorium, Akola. The gathering witnessed the participation of hundreds of farmers and leaders from various organizations across the state. The event marked a milestone in addressing farmers’ grievances, with in-depth discussions on agricultural issues and a commitment to taking concrete steps for their resolution.
Key Resolutions Passed
1. Immediate Financial Aid: A demand was made for an immediate grant of ₹10,000 per acre for soybean, cotton, and tur producers for the year 2024-25.
2. Crop Insurance & Disaster Assistance: Farmers urged for prompt disbursal of crop insurance and natural disaster relief for 2024-25.
3. Loan Waiver: A demand for collective farm loan waivers was raised.
4. Electricity Supply: Farmers sought a guaranteed daytime power supply for agricultural purposes.
5. Protection from Wildlife: A request was made to provide wire fencing with 90% subsidy to protect crops from wildlife damage.
6. Road Infrastructure: Farmers demanded the construction of durable roads on a war footing to facilitate better farm management.
7. Educational & Marriage Assistance: Long-term financial aid was sought for the education of farmers’ children and the marriage of their daughters.
8. MSP Guarantee Law: A call was made for legislation ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce.
Farmers and organization leaders present at the event resolved to take joint efforts to achieve these demands. If necessary, democratic protests, rallies, and public meetings will be organized to pressurize the government into action.
The event was chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Vice President, Mohammad Salim Engineer. Prominent speakers included Dr. Sunilam from Samyukta Kisan Morcha, Ravikant Tupkar from Krantikari Kisan Sangathan, Prakash Pohare from Kisan Brigade, Prashant Gawande from Shetkari Jagar Manch, Ilyas Khan Falahi from Kisan Vikas Manch, Laxmikant Kotkar from Kisan Sangathan, Jameer Qadri, Abdul Mujeeb, Gajanan Ahmedabadkar, and Kisan Vikas Manch President, Hussain Khan Akola.
Ravikant Tupkar emphasized, “Unity among farmers is crucial. If we fail to collectively pressure the government, our demands will remain unheard.”
Prakash Pohare stressed, “The government should not exploit farmers. At the same time, farmers must adopt cost-effective agricultural practices.”
Dr. Sunilam highlighted the significance of unity, stating, “The only way to make the government listen is for all farmer organizations to come together on a single platform.”
Several farmers were honored with the Adarsh Shetkari Puraskar for their outstanding contributions:
Vilas Ashokrao Ravate (Sawaleshwar, Umarkhed) – Record-breaking Tur Producer Award
Balkrishna Sitarmji Ramchaware (Alanda) – Excellence in Fruit Farming & Dragon Fruit Cultivation
Raza-ul-Haq (Raju Seth, Akola) – Farming on 300 Acres of Land
Shubham Sanjay Rajurkar (Farming Group, Hingna Phata, Barshitakli) – Record Soybean Production
The event was skillfully conducted by young farmer guide Akshay Raut, while Aman Imandar delivered the vote of thanks. The successful execution of the program was credited to the efforts of Liaquat Ali Khan Chikhli, Aman Imandar Hivarkhed, Bhaskar Dongre Hatarun, Abdul Manna Ghatladki, Mohammad Afzal Pimpalgaon Raja, and Abdullah Khan Ardhapur.
The Kisan Samadhan Sabha has ignited fresh hope for farmers, reaffirming that collective action can effectively bring their voices to the government.
