New Delhi: A two-day Book Exhibition, organized by the Hakeem Mohammad Said Central Library (HMSCL), commenced today at the Jamia Hamdard. The exhibition, scheduled for October 16-17, was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Afshar Alam. Mr. Alok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi, also participated in the inauguration. Also in attendance were Dr. M.A. Sikandar, Registrar, Dr. Akhtar Parvez, University Librarian, along with Deans, faculty members, and library staff.
During the inaugural address, Professor Afshar Alam said books have always been the foundation of knowledge and intellectual growth. This exhibition serves as a reminder that in today’s fast-paced digital world, the written word continues to play a vital role in shaping minds and fostering critical thinking.
He further added that the libraries are the heart of any academic institution. The HMSCL, with initiatives like this exhibition, proves its commitment to enriching the academic community by providing access to the best resources.
The exhibition will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days, welcoming faculty, research scholars, students, and staff. Books spanning various disciplines, including Sciences, Nursing, Chemical & Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Unani Medicine, Law, Management, Computer Science, Mass Communication, and Social Sciences, were showcased by renowned publishers. Over 23 publishers/booksellers set up stalls, offering a wide range of literature to faculty and research scholars.
The event received an enthusiastic response, with faculty and young aspiring readers expressing great interest in the diverse collection of books on display.
