New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has asked all states and Union Territories to closely monitor pro Iran radical preachers suspected of delivering inflammatory speeches. The advisory follows rising global tensions linked to recent military developments involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
According to official sources, the Ministry issued a circular on February 28. It directed state authorities to remain vigilant against individuals and groups spreading provocative rhetoric in support of Iran. The advisory warned that certain sermons and public statements risk triggering strong emotional reactions. Officials fear such reactions could lead to protests or violence if authorities fail to intervene early.
The Ministry instructed states to take preventive steps and maintain surveillance on individuals identified as potential sources of unrest. It also highlighted the role of social media in spreading extremist content. States have been told to track suspicious accounts, monitor extremist messaging, and watch for links to global terrorist organisations seeking to exploit the situation.

Authorities have also tightened security at sensitive sites. These include embassies, consulates, and diplomatic facilities linked to the United States and Israel. Law enforcement agencies have received instructions to increase vigilance around such locations to prevent attacks or disruptive demonstrations.
The advisory comes after reports of public gatherings in several regions, where Shia mourners expressed grief over the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a military strike attributed to the United States and Israel. While these gatherings remained largely peaceful, officials view them as a reminder of heightened emotions.
The Centre has asked states to act early, identify risks, and maintain law and order. The Ministry stated that protecting public safety and preserving communal harmony remain top priorities.
