HRS Volunteers Play Key Role in Bengaluru Building Collapse Rescue Operations

Bengaluru: In a heart-breaking incident, an under-construction building collapsed in the Hennur area of Bengaluru, resulting in the deaths of at least three workers. The rescue operation, which concluded successfully, accounted for all victims, with volunteers from Humanitarian Relief Services (HRS) playing a crucial role in the efforts. HRS is a relief Rescue and Rehabilitation wing of JIH Karnataka.

As heavy rains battered the city, initial reports suggested that structural weaknesses in the building, particularly in the basement, may have contributed to the collapse. Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and NDRF personnel, worked tirelessly to recover the trapped individuals. HRS volunteers, dressed in bright yellow t-shirts, collaborated closely with government agencies, assisting in clearing debris and providing first aid to those in need.

After the bodies of the deceased workers were recovered, HRS volunteers shifted their focus to supporting the families affected by this tragedy. They offered counselling services to help them cope with the trauma of their loss, demonstrating compassion and dedication during a difficult time.

Dr. Mohammed Saad Belgami, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Karnataka, expressed his gratitude for the volunteers’ efforts. In a message on social media platform X, he stated, “Grateful to our HRS volunteers for their tireless efforts during the Bengaluru building collapse rescue operation. Working late into the night, they not only assisted in recovery but also provided vital counselling to the brave families affected. Their commitment to humanitarian service truly exemplifies compassion in action.
