Gulbarga: Huda Foundation Dharward conducted a felicitation programme for Urdu journalists here recently. Senior journalists Hakim Shakir, Hamid Kamal, Azeezulla Sarmast, Dr. Majid Daghi, Mohmmed Mahaboob, Mohiyuddin Pasha, Dr. Ather Muiz, Mubeen Ahmed Zakhm, Dr. Gazanfar Iqbal, Bureau Chief, Kaghaz Deccan and Meer Saheb Hasan and Haneef Qamar, Editor and Assistant Editor of monthly Taryaq from Mumbai respectively were presented Mohammed Yaqoob Khan Journalist Award 2024 by Dr. Mehar Afroz of the Foundation.
Dr. Afroz said on the occasion that he has initiated this award in memory of his father Yaqoob Khan who was deeply interested in Urdu journalism and worked for a few papers too. Such awards were given in Hubli and Dharward earlier, he said.
On behalf of all the awardees, Azeezulla Sarmast thanked Dr. Afroz who came all the way from Dhrarwrd to Gulbarga and recognised the services of Urdu journalists. Dr. Afroz was also felicitated on the occasion for bagging Saher Ludhyanvi Award in the on-line Mushaira conducted by Chiragh-e-Noor, Gulbarga, recently. Moulana Nooh, general secretary, Indian Union Muslim League Karnataka presided over the felicitation programme.
