London – In a powerful display of global solidarity, hundreds of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across Europe on Saturday, calling for an immediate end to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and condemning what they described as a deliberate starvation campaign against Palestinians, reported the TRT Global.
In the UK, London became the epicentre of the protests during the 30th National March for Palestine, where marchers rallied under the banner “Stop Starving Gaza”. Crowds moved from Russell Square to the Prime Minister’s Office, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans against the British government for being “complicit in genocide.” The march was organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), which accused Israel of “starving Palestinians in Gaza to death” and urged the UK government to intervene.
Similar scenes unfolded in Stockholm, Sweden, where protesters gathered at Odenplan to denounce Israeli plans to occupy Gaza City, a move recently approved by Israel’s Security Cabinet despite international opposition. The crowd marched to the Foreign Ministry, carrying signs condemning Israeli attacks and US support for Israel.
In the Netherlands, demonstrators in Amsterdam voiced opposition to Israel’s occupation plans and called for unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza. Meanwhile, Spain saw multiple rallies, including in Madrid, where protesters chanted “End to genocide” and banged pots and pans to highlight the growing famine in the besieged enclave.
Thousands also gathered at Geneva’s Jardin Anglais in Switzerland, staging a sit-in to protest malnutrition-related deaths caused by Israel’s blockade. Protesters waved Palestinian flags and shouted slogans in English, French, and Arabic, demanding an end to international complicity in what they described as crimes against humanity.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the humanitarian toll is worsening rapidly. In the past 24 hours alone, 21 Palestinians were killed and over 341 injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid. Since May 27, at least 1,743 people have been killed and more than 12,590 wounded in such incidents. Starvation-related deaths have reached 212, including 98 children.
The latest protests come as the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The Israeli army resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18, breaking a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January. Since then, 9,862 Palestinians have been killed and 40,809 injured.
Protesters across Europe vowed to continue their rallies until the blockade is lifted, humanitarian aid flows freely, and the attacks on Gaza cease.
