Hyderabad: Cow Vigilantes Attack Cattle Traders Ahead of Bakrid, Seize Vehicle

Hyderabad – Tension gripped the Outer Ring Road area near Adibatla on Sunday night, June 1, after a group of alleged cow vigilantes intercepted and attacked cattle traders transporting livestock.
According to a report by the Siasat, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when five young men from the Old City of Hyderabad were transporting nine cattle they had purchased from a market. They were reportedly stopped by self-styled ‘gau rakshaks’, who not only manhandled the traders but also forcibly seized their vehicle and drove it away to a gaushala.
This kind of vigilantism tends to rise sharply in Hyderabad and across Telangana around the time of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha), triggering widespread concern among cattle traders and the Muslim community.
Upon learning about the incident, AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig rushed to the scene and interacted with police officials. He strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate and strict action against those involved in the assault.
The incident has added to the growing apprehension in the city ahead of Bakrid, as law enforcement agencies brace for increased surveillance and community tension.
