Hyderabad: In an effort to maintain public order and tranquillity, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, C.V. Anand, has issued a notification prohibiting gatherings, processions, and protests within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The order, effective from Sunday 6:00 p.m. will remain in force until November 28, 6:00 p.m.
The Police Commissioner has issued this ban order, exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (previously Section 144 Cr. PC).
The order restricts all gatherings to Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk for peaceful protests and warns that “any dharna or protest anywhere else in Hyderabad and Secunderabad is not permitted.”
It further cautions, “The public are hereby informed that any person violating the above orders, especially around the Secretariat and other sensitive places, shall be liable for prosecution under appropriate penal provisions.”
The City Police shared this announcement on their official X account, urging public cooperation to maintain peace. The post emphasised the need for residents to adhere to the guidelines to help ensure security in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Certain exemptions to the order apply to on-duty police officers, military personnel, bonafide funeral processions, and members of Flying Squad Education Department. However, any violation of the order during the enforcement period will result in strict legal action.
