The International Indian Professionals Association (IIPA) hosted a distinguished event at Radisson Blu on Monday to honour Dr. Syed Anwar Khursheed following his return from India on January 11 after receiving the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025. This award, the highest honour conferred by the President of India on overseas Indians, recognises Dr. Khursheed’s exceptional contributions to healthcare and education.
Dr. Khursheed’s achievements were celebrated during the ceremony, with Dr. Shafeeq, President IIPA, praising his contributions.
“Dr. Khursheed embodies brilliance, determination, and selfless service. His remarkable accomplishments are a testament to purpose-driven action and a deep connection to his roots,” he stated.
During his address, Dr. Khursheed shared valuable reflections for all Indians: “One should always be genuine. We should reach out to all sections and communities to serve them with sincere efforts for community building. By setting a clear roadmap and demonstrating action with mutual respect and harmony, we can inspire future generations.”
Dr. Shafeeq highlighted the significance of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, describing it as “a symbol of India’s gratitude to those who uphold its values, showcase its potential on the global stage, and strengthen ties between India and the world.”
With over 45 years of dedicated service in public healthcare, Dr. Khursheed has made a profound impact, particularly through his leadership in critical care during Hajj and his role in establishing educational institutions for the Indian community in Saudi Arabia. His unwavering commitment continues to inspire the Indian diaspora worldwide.

The event was organised by Eng. Farhan Ahmed Hashmi and included a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Mir Mujahid. Prominent dignitaries of the Indian diaspora, including Mr. Shahid Mohiuddin, Mr. Mohammed Samiuddin, and Mr. Sadiq, attended the function, adding to its significance.
The evening also honoured the collective contributions of the Indian expatriate community, recognising their pivotal role in preserving India’s heritage while excelling abroad.
