30 Apr. 24: In response to the heinous murder of Muslim religious leader Maulana Mahir in Kanchan Nagar, Ajmer, a collective outcry for justice has emerged, led by Imams from mosques in Makrana and supported by local leaders.
Under the guidance of Makrana MLA Zakir Hussain Gasawat, Imams from various mosques in Makrana convened at the subdivision office to present a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging swift action against the perpetrators of this horrific crime.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, MLA Gasawat emphasized the need for immediate arrests to prevent communal tensions and restore faith in law and order. The demand for financial assistance and government employment for the victim’s family was also highlighted, underscoring the profound impact of Maulana Mahir’s tragic demise on the community.
Detailing the events leading to Maulana Mahir’s untimely death, the memorandum highlighted the ruthless attack carried out by three masked assailants inside the Ajmer mosque during the early hours of April 27. Despite ongoing investigations, the perpetrators remain at large, fueling widespread apprehension and insecurity among residents.
The memorandum outlined three key demands to the government:
- Swift apprehension and stringent punishment for the murderers;
- Provision of Rs. 5 crore as financial assistance to the victim’s family; and
- Allocation of a government job for one member of the bereaved family.
Additionally, a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, comprising representatives from Ajmer, Beawar, and Rajsamand, visited the Kanchan Nagar Mohammadi Madina Masjid to gather firsthand information about the incident. Their interactions with local witnesses shed light on the brutal nature of Maulana Mahir’s murder and the profound shock it has elicited within the community.
Mumtaz Ali, Joint Secretary of JIH, condemned the barbarity of the attack, emphasizing the urgency of apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring justice for Maulana Mahir’s family. While initial investigations have not revealed any communal motives, the community remains vigilant, hoping for swift action from law enforcement authorities.
As the search for justice continues, the collective resolve of community leaders and residents remains unwavering, underscoring the importance of accountability and security in safeguarding communal harmony and justice for all.
