Imran Khan’s Sisters Blocked Again, PTI Holds Sit In Outside Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: Family members of former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf leaders held a sit in outside Adiala jail after authorities blocked a scheduled meeting with him. His sister Aleema Khan led the protest. She said the state violated the law by refusing access for months.

Aleema said Imran Khan has not met his personal doctor for fourteen months. She asked why jail authorities refuse a medical meeting. She compared the situation to the treatment given to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who received continuous medical access during imprisonment. She said the current restrictions showed a double standard.

Aleema and PTI supporters walked toward the prison from Gorakhpur Market. Police stopped the group near the barricades. She sat on the ground and said authorities were isolating and mistreating Imran Khan. She said the actions violated constitutional rights.

Imran Khan has been in Adiala jail since August 2023. He faces multiple cases linked to corruption and terrorism after his removal from office through a no trust vote in 2022.

Uzma Khanum, another sister, met him on December 2. She said his physical health was stable, although he complained of mental pressure. She said he spends most of the day inside his room and has limited time outdoors.

On December 4, the federal government banned Uzma and others from future visits. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said they held political discussions that violated the prison code.

Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court. He seeks permission for medical tests at Shaukat Khanum Hospital and requests monthly checkups. The plea also seeks full access for medical teams and copies of his medical reports for his family and the court.
