In Sharalkoppa and Hassan, CIO Sets an Example of Compassion and Generosity

In a heart-warming effort to cultivate compassion and social responsibility among children, the Children Islamic Organisation (CIO) organised impactful events in Sharalkoppa and Hassan, in Karnataka demonstrating the true spirit of Ramadan through acts of kindness and service. True to the saying “Charity begins at home,” these young hearts took the first step in making a difference in their communities.

In Sharalkoppa, the CIO recently organised a special event at Masjid Sayyiduna Umar Farooq to instil values of charity and empathy among young minds. This initiative was not just about providing for the underprivileged but also about nurturing a sense of responsibility, generosity, and selflessness in the next generation.

The event actively engaged children in social service by encouraging them to bring essential daily-use items from their homes. These items were then carefully assembled into Iftar Kits. What made this initiative truly remarkable was that the children themselves distributed these kits to underprivileged families, experiencing firsthand the joy of giving and the importance of caring for those in need.

A similar initiative took place in Hassan, where CIO children participated in a clothing drive, collecting, cleaning, and packaging clothes to be gifted to underprivileged children. This thoughtful act of solidarity not only brought smiles to many but also reinforced the values of empathy and shared humanity.

Through these initiatives, CIO emphasised that Ramadan is not merely a month of fasting, but also a time of Mawasat – solidarity, generosity, and compassion for others. By allowing children to take an active role in acts of kindness, CIO ensured that they internalised the values of charity and social responsibility from a young age.

Ramadan is a time for self-reflection, heightened spirituality, and a deeper connection with fellow human beings. It is a month where generosity takes centre stage, and acts of charity hold even greater significance. CIO’s initiative beautifully demonstrated how young children can be active participants in fostering a culture of giving and social welfare.

By engaging children in practical experiences of Infaq (spending in the way of Allah) and social service, CIO aims to raise a generation that sees charity not just as a duty, but as an essential part of their character. The focus is on embedding values of empathy and sacrifice from an early age, ensuring that these young minds grow up with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on society.

The event was widely appreciated by parents and community members, who saw it as an important step in shaping socially responsible individuals. As the saying goes, “Small deeds make a big difference,” and these children proved that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting impact. Initiatives like these highlight the importance of community-driven efforts in promoting a compassionate and inclusive society.
