India announced on Tuesday the policy conditions governing the export of specific halal meat and its products on Tuesday which will take effect from October 16. The regulations pertain to both fresh and frozen meat derived from bovine animals, as well as sheep and goats.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has announced that certain meat and meat products may be exported as halal certified to 15 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh. However, this is contingent upon the requirement that these products are produced, processed, and/or packaged in facilities that are certified under the ‘India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I-CAS) – Halal’ by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has announced that the policy conditions for the export of designated halal meat and meat products have been established. Furthermore, it is required that exporters furnish a valid certificate to the buyer in the importing nation following the shipment. Among the 15 countries involved are Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, and Turkey.
