New Delhi — The Congress party has called for a key meeting of Opposition leaders under the INDIA bloc banner on August 7 in New Delhi to strategize for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, which are scheduled for October-November this year, reported the Economic Times.
National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah confirmed the meeting, stating, “I am going to meet Rahul Gandhi. All the leaders of the INDIA bloc have been invited. I will find out the details during the meeting.”
His remarks came in response to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s bold assertion that his party possesses an “atom bomb” of evidence to expose electoral malpractice and ensure victory in Bihar. “He (Rahul Gandhi) said that such an arrangement has been made that they will win the Bihar elections,” Abdullah told PTI.
When asked about the status of Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah reiterated his optimism about the restoration of statehood. “We have faith in the one who is the master of all. We will get our rights,” he affirmed.
Responding to the BJP’s repeated claims of development in Jammu and Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370, Abdullah said, “I will not say anything. Whatever the BJP says, it keeps on saying.” He also drew a comparison with former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying, “Trump keeps shouting about peace deals. Now they have imposed a 25% tariff on us. The tools for our destruction are being prepared. All our industrialists are fleeing.”
The meeting on August 7 is expected to be crucial in laying down a united opposition strategy for the Bihar elections and assessing the broader political roadmap for the INDIA alliance.
