New Delhi, April 12: In response to heightened tensions between Iran and Israel following recent events, the Indian government has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid travel to both Iran and Israel until further notice. The advisory, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday, also advised Indians currently residing in these countries to exercise extreme caution for their safety and limit their movements.
The escalation in tensions stems from an incident 11 days ago when the Iranian consulate in Syria was reportedly struck, with Iran placing blame on Israel for the attack. Concerns have since arisen about potential retaliatory actions by Tehran against Israel.
“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice,” the MEA statement read. It further instructed Indian residents in Iran and Israel to contact their respective Indian Embassies and register themselves to facilitate communication and assistance if necessary.
The advisory emphasized the importance of taking utmost precautions given the uncertain security situation and urged individuals to restrict their movements to essential activities only. Indian nationals in the affected areas are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and follow guidance provided by the Indian diplomatic missions.
This advisory reflects India’s proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens amidst evolving geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
