India has reiterated its long-standing support for Palestine’s bid for full membership of the United Nations and reaffirmed its commitment to a two-state solution during a ministerial meeting of the Palestine Donor Group held in Brussels.
Representing India at the meeting, Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, underlined New Delhi’s continued partnership with the Palestinian people. She said India remains committed to a peaceful resolution in which Israel and Palestine live side by side within recognised borders in accordance with international law.
India also reaffirmed its backing for Palestine’s membership of the United Nations. The position reflects New Delhi’s continued diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause while advocating a negotiated political settlement to the long-standing conflict.
During the meeting, India highlighted its development partnership with Palestine, describing its assistance as demand-driven and focused on improving the lives of ordinary people. Indian support has centred on healthcare, education, vocational training and capacity building, areas viewed as essential for strengthening Palestinian institutions and creating long-term opportunities.
The Indian delegation noted that several projects are already underway in Palestine, including initiatives related to healthcare services, women’s empowerment and institution building. India also announced fresh projects aimed at rehabilitation, education, health services and vocational training, reflecting its continuing humanitarian and developmental engagement.
The announcement comes as international efforts continue to address the humanitarian and political challenges facing the Palestinian people. India’s intervention at the donor group meeting placed equal emphasis on diplomatic support and practical assistance, presenting development cooperation as an important pillar of its relationship with Palestine.
India has maintained a consistent position in favour of a negotiated two-state solution while extending humanitarian assistance and development cooperation through projects designed in consultation with Palestinian authorities. The latest commitments reaffirm this approach by combining political support with programmes intended to strengthen public services, enhance skills and improve community welfare.
The ministerial meeting provided participating countries an opportunity to review ongoing assistance and discuss future cooperation. India’s announcements reinforced its intention to continue contributing to Palestine’s development through targeted initiatives while supporting international efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and lasting resolution to the conflict.
For many observers, the reaffirmation of support for Palestine’s UN membership, alongside new commitments in health, education and rehabilitation, reflects India’s continuing engagement with the Palestinian people through diplomacy, development and humanitarian cooperation.
