India Revokes Security Clearance of Turkish Airport Firm Celebi’s Indian Arm

New Delhi: The Government of India has revoked the security clearance of the Indian arm of Turkish airport services company Çelebi Aviation, reportedly citing “adverse reports” from intelligence agencies. This development could significantly impact the company’s operations at multiple airports across India, reported the Madhyamam.
Çelebi Aviation operates ground-handling services at several major Indian airports including those in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kochi. With the revocation of its security clearance, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) are expected to take further steps in accordance with civil aviation security regulations.
Sources said that the decision was made based on inputs from central intelligence agencies, although no official public statement was issued detailing the specific reasons behind the move. The company, meanwhile, is reportedly exploring legal options to challenge the decision.
The revocation raises concerns about potential disruptions in ground-handling services at key airports. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is likely to review contingency plans to ensure smooth functioning of airport services in case Çelebi’s operations are halted.
This development comes amidst growing scrutiny of foreign investments and operations in India, especially in sensitive sectors such as aviation and infrastructure.
