Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has stirred political discussion by stating that India must learn lessons in self-respect and sovereignty from Iran. Speaking to reporters, Raut praised Iran’s bold stance in standing up to global powers, especially the United States and Israel, reported the Madhyamam.
“Iran does not bow to America or Israel. They respond firmly to any aggression, defending their nation’s honour. India, too, should act with similar courage and self-respect,” Raut said.
His remarks come in the backdrop of increasing global tension involving Israel, Iran, and the United States. Raut indirectly criticised the Indian government’s silence and diplomatic positioning, urging stronger and more independent foreign policy actions.
The Shiv Sena leader added that while India is a major power with a proud history, it must show the same dignity in its international dealings as Iran does. “It’s about protecting national pride,” he stated.
This isn’t the first time Raut has made bold foreign policy comments. Known for his fiery rhetoric, he often draws attention by challenging the government’s stand on international issues.
His statement has sparked debates among political circles, with supporters lauding his courage and critics accusing him of comparing incomparable nations.
