Tehran: The Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals to leave the country immediately due to worsening security conditions and widespread unrest. The advisory follows an earlier notice issued earlier this month and reiterates concerns over safety amid continuing protests.
The embassy asked Indian citizens, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists, to depart using all available transport options, including commercial flights. It advised those still in Iran to remain alert, avoid protest-affected areas, and maintain regular contact with the mission.
The advisory also extended to Persons of Indian Origin living in Iran. The embassy urged them to keep travel and identity documents readily accessible and to closely monitor local news for developments. Officials stated assistance remains available for those facing difficulties.
To support emergency coordination, the embassy shared multiple contact numbers and an official email address for consular assistance. Indian nationals who have not yet registered with the embassy were advised to complete registration through the Ministry of External Affairs portal. Families in India were encouraged to assist relatives with registration if internet access remains disrupted.
The advisory comes amid continuing protests across Iran. The unrest reportedly began due to economic distress and has since spread to several regions. Reports indicate a high number of deaths and injuries, along with clashes between protesters and authorities. Communication restrictions have further added to uncertainty on the ground.
