Indian Left Seeks Nationwide Protests Against US Action in Venezuela

New Delhi: Five major Left parties issued a joint statement condemning what they described as United States aggression against Venezuela and announced plans for nationwide protests in solidarity with the Latin American nation. The call followed rising global tension after claims of US military action and reports circulating online regarding the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

The statement came from the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India Marxist, CPI Marxist Leninist Liberation, Revolutionary Socialist Party and All India Forward Bloc. The parties accused the United States of violating the United Nations Charter through military action against a sovereign nation.

According to the Left parties, Washington aims to assert control over Venezuela’s oil reserves and strengthen dominance across the region. The statement criticised remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump on securing oil resources and comments linked to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warning of possible action against other countries. The parties linked these remarks to the US National Security Strategy 2025 and described the policy direction as imperialist and expansionist under an extended Monroe Doctrine.

The Left parties cited reports from Venezuela indicating large scale public mobilisation to defend national sovereignty. They expressed full solidarity with the Venezuelan people and urged peace loving and anti imperialist forces across India to join street protests.

The statement appealed to the Indian government to align with international voices condemning the alleged US action and to support Venezuela’s right to sovereignty and self determination.

Earlier, CPI Marxist Leninist Liberation issued a separate appeal describing the situation as a criminal war of aggression, referring to claims of aerial bombardment and military entry into Caracas. The joint appeal drew parallels with past US interventions in Latin America and West Asia and accused Washington of using repeated claims to justify regime change and control over natural resources.
