Indian-Made Missile Found in Gaza After Israeli Airstrikes, Congress Demands Probe

New Delhi, June 7: A recent Israeli airstrike on a UN-run school in Nuseirat, Gaza, has revealed the use of Indian-made military equipment in the ongoing conflict. The remains of a missile with a “Made in India” label were discovered in the rubble of a UN shelter, raising concerns about the involvement of Indian arms manufacturers in the hostilities.

The attack occurred on the night of June 6, 2024, when Israeli aircraft targeted a UN Relief Agency school sheltering Palestinians. The airstrike resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, including women and children, and left many others injured. A viral video of the aftermath shows the remnants of the building and the missile bearing the label “Made in India.”

The use of Indian-made weapons has significant implications, suggesting a role for Indian arms manufacturers in the conflict. Despite this, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) maintained that the airstrike was a precise operation aimed at Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters.

This revelation has led to calls for accountability, with UN experts advocating for sanctions and an arms embargo against Israel. The incident underscores the broader concerns about arms manufacturers’ roles in conflicts and potential human rights abuses.

In a related development, Spain recently denied permission for an Israel-bound ship carrying arms from India to dock at its port. The ship, carrying 27 tonnes of explosive material from Chennai to Israel’s Haifa, was turned away, highlighting international scrutiny over arms transfers.

As the situation unfolds, the discovery of the “Made in India” missile in Gaza adds a complex layer to the discourse on arms trade and its implications in conflict zones.
