India’s Global Image Damaged by Foreign Policy Failures: Shahnawaz Alam at OBC Congress Seminar

India’s global standing has weakened due to foreign policy failures under the Modi government, said AICC National Secretary Shahnawaz Alam. He was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Middle East Crisis and Foreign Policy Failures’ held at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee office. The event was organized by the OBC Congress.
Alam said India has lost touch with traditional allies like Iran. He urged the government to revisit Sonia Gandhi’s recent article and realign its foreign policy.
UP Congress Organization General Secretary Anil Yadav said, “If Gandhi were alive, he would march for Palestine. Nehru would speak for Palestine at the UN. Indira Gandhi would invite Yasser Arafat to Red Fort. Rajiv Gandhi would help rebuild Palestinian schools. Modi, instead, has sided with Israel and shamed India.”
Former Minister Dr. Masood said the world is divided into two camps and India is in neither. He praised Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei for preventing World War III and called Trump a threat to peace.
Supreme Court Advocate Shariq Abbasi criticized Modi’s silence on Trump’s claim of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said India’s image was hurt. He also blamed U.S. pressure for India’s failure to buy cheap oil from Iran. He said the rollback of Manmohan Singh’s Look East policy has distanced neighbors.
Congress leader Sanjay Sharma warned that RSS’s obsession with elections could reduce India to Sudan or Nigeria. He called Iran a natural ally due to shared history, unlike the commercial motives of the U.S. and Israel.
Senior journalist Obaidulla Nasir said India once led the Non-Aligned Movement and had global respect, but Modi has weakened that voice. Journalist Shakeel Rizvi said internal communalism has shaped foreign policy and damaged India’s global image.
Congress leader Richa Kaushik stressed peace is necessary for development. She said India should have called for peace in the Iran-Israel conflict, but the Modi government failed.
Congress leader Naved Naqvi said Modi has damaged ties with Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, who now lean towards China. Siddharth Priya Srivastava said it’s a foreign policy failure that the U.S. dared to interfere in India-Pakistan matters.
Minority Congress’s outgoing State General Secretary Mohammad Umair said it’s shameful for Gandhi’s land to support Israel. Outgoing State Vice-President Akhtar Malik said Modi coined “Namaste Trump” but stays silent even when Trump threatens him.
Barabanki District Congress President Mohsin Khan said only Congress raises global issues. He praised Priyanka Gandhi’s support for Palestine and criticized Modi’s silence on both Manipur and Iran.
Minority Congress National Secretary Shamim Khan said the Modi government has devalued the Indian passport and weakened the global respect for Indians.
Shamsul Hasan Umra said only strong leadership can create strong foreign policy. He called Modi’s leadership weak and blamed him for a failing policy.
Congress leader Meraj Wali Khan said Modi failed to even pass a resolution on the Pehalgam terror attack at the SCO meet.
Outgoing Vice-President Masood Khan accused Modi of limiting foreign policy to getting contracts for Ambani and Adani.
OBC Congress District President Shamim Qureshi called for reviving the Non-Aligned Movement to unite the Global South.
Anees Akhtar said Modi acts like a foreign agent. He claimed that foreign policy needs a native spirit which the current regime lacks.
UP Congress spokesperson Aleemulla Khan, who moderated the seminar, said that before Operation Sindoor, India was ahead of Pakistan globally. Modi’s failed policy has now helped Pakistan rise.
Other attendees included Dr. Shahzad Alam, Shahnawaz Khan, Salman Zia, Shiv Shankar Nishad, Ahmad Raza Khan, and Noman Khan.
