Aligarh: A high-level delegation from the Embassy of Indonesia visited Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to explore prospects for academic collaboration, student exchange, and joint research initiatives. The visit marked a significant step toward deepening educational and cultural cooperation between AMU and leading Indonesian institutions.

The delegation included Prof. Fuad, Education and Cultural Attaché; Mr. Musoni, First Secretary (Political Section); Mr. Adhy Buwono, First Secretary (Protocol and Consular Section); and Mr. Ago Mulyawan. They were received by Prof. M. Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof. Aasim Zafar, Registrar; and Prof. Vibha Sharma, Member In-Charge, Public Relations Office.

During an interactive meeting held at the Pro Vice Chancellor’s office, both sides discussed formalising collaboration in diverse fields such as science, technology, humanities, Islamic studies, and social sciences. The dialogue also covered opportunities for student and faculty exchange programmes, joint workshops, and collaborative research projects.

The Indonesian representatives expressed a strong interest in expanding the number of Indonesian students at AMU, citing the university’s academic excellence, multicultural ethos, and historical contributions to global education.

Prof. Mohsin Khan reaffirmed AMU’s commitment to international academic engagement, stating, “AMU has always believed in fostering educational cooperation across borders. We look forward to welcoming more students from Indonesia and building a lasting academic partnership.”

The delegation commended AMU’s vibrant academic atmosphere and cultural diversity, describing the institution as a “bridge between tradition and modernity.” They also interacted with Indonesian students currently studying at the university.

Both sides agreed to continue discussions to finalise specific frameworks for future collaboration.

The visit underscores AMU’s growing focus on the internationalisation of higher education, in line with India’s vision to enhance educational diplomacy and promote cross-cultural academic exchange.
