Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, April 7: Explosive accusations of “institutional murder” have surfaced following the death of former MLA Mukhtar Ansari, with his son, Umar Ansari, alleging a conspiracy orchestrated by jail authorities under the directive of notorious mafia figures with political ties.
In an exclusive interview with eNewsroom, Umar Ansari vehemently disputed the official claim of Mukhtar Ansari’s demise due to cardiac arrest. He asserted that his father was systematically eliminated by the prison administration on the instructions of mafia dons Brijesh Singh and Tribhuwan Singh, allegedly enjoying patronage from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mukhtar Ansari, a five-term MLA from Mau constituency in eastern Uttar Pradesh, was serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai and other criminal cases. His sudden death at the Rani Durgawati Medical College and Hospital in Banda on March 29 sparked controversy and suspicion.
According to Umar Ansari, his father had filed complaints of being fed contaminated food amounting to “slow poison,” which deteriorated his health significantly. He emphasized that Mukhtar Ansari’s health, contrary to reports, was robust, and suspicions of foul play were validated by his father’s own court petition.
The younger Ansari detailed a sequence of events leading up to his father’s demise, citing instances where Mukhtar Ansari raised alarm about his condition, alleging poisoning, and subsequent administrative actions against negligent jail officials. Umar Ansari contended that his father’s death was orchestrated to suppress potential revelations that could implicate higher authorities.
The gravity of these accusations prompted a judicial probe into Mukhtar Ansari’s death while in custody. Civil Judge Senior Division Garima Singh and Additional District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of Banda prison, scrutinizing CCTV footage, examining records, and recording statements from jail personnel.
Mukhtar Ansari’s death has reignited debates over political vendettas and allegations of misuse of state machinery, with Umar Ansari pointing fingers at powerful figures allegedly shielding mafia elements for political gain.
The eNewsroom’s investigation continues to unravel the complexities surrounding Mukhtar Ansari’s demise, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability within the criminal justice system.
The unfolding saga underscores the challenges of navigating the intersections of law, politics, and justice in India’s contentious legal landscape.
