New Delhi – The journey of IPS Safin Hasan stands as a remarkable tale of grit, determination, and perseverance. Born on July 21, 1995, in Palanpur, Gujarat, to humble parents—his father, Mustafa Hasan, a labourer and small street vendor, and his mother, Naseem Banu, a cook—Safin overcame severe financial hardships to become India’s youngest IPS officer at the age of 22, reported the MSN.
Safin’s early education was marked by both academic excellence and economic struggle. He scored 92% in both his Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, with his school, SKM High School, waiving fees for his senior classes in recognition of his talent. His inspiration to join the civil services came when a District Collector visited his school, leaving a lasting impression of respect and service on the young student.
Supported by relatives, Safin pursued a B.Tech degree at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat. Despite facing ridicule for his English-speaking skills in college, he worked hard to improve and confidently faced his UPSC interview in English.
His journey to success was far from easy. In 2017, on the day of his UPSC Mains exam, Safin met with a serious road accident, suffering multiple injuries that required surgeries and lengthy physiotherapy. Even in pain, he appeared for the exam and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 570. Later, he overcame further health challenges during the interview phase.
Safin was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police in Jamnagar, Gujarat, before serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic. Alongside his official duties, he actively engages in social work, volunteering with NGOs and educating underprivileged children.
