Iran Warns of Strong Response if Israel Breaks Ceasefire

Tehran: Iran’s top military commander has raised serious concerns over Israel’s commitment to the recently announced ceasefire, warning of a strong and immediate response if hostilities resume. Speaking to Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, General Abdolrahim Mousavi, declared that Tehran remains highly skeptical of Israel’s intentions and is fully prepared to retaliate.
“Since we have complete doubts about the enemy’s [Israel] adherence to its commitments, including the ceasefire, we are prepared to give it a strong response if it repeats the aggression,” Mousavi was quoted as saying by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The general emphasized that although Iran did not initiate the conflict, it responded forcefully and decisively to Israel’s attacks. “We have serious doubts over the enemy’s compliance with its commitments, including the ceasefire. We are ready to respond with force,” he reiterated in a statement carried by Iran’s state television and reported by AFP.
These remarks come just six days after a ceasefire was brokered by US President Donald Trump, ending nearly two weeks of intense hostilities that began with an Israeli airstrike on June 13, allegedly targeting Iran’s nuclear program.
During the conflict, Israel claimed to have killed around 30 senior Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists. It also reported striking eight nuclear-linked facilities and over 720 military targets. According to a US-based human rights organization, the fighting left more than 1,000 people dead, including at least 417 civilians.
In retaliation, Iran launched over 550 ballistic missiles at Israel. Although many were intercepted by Israeli defense systems, the strikes caused significant damage and resulted in 28 deaths. Over the weekend, Iran held state funerals for approximately 60 people, including senior military officials and nuclear scientists who were killed in the attacks.
The regional situation remains tense, with both sides closely monitoring each other’s moves, and the international community urging restraint to prevent a wider escalation.
