Iranian President Reaffirms Peaceful Nuclear Intentions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons, citing a religious decree by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that explicitly forbids such arms. He emphasized Tehran’s continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to verify the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
During a phone conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Pezeshkian discussed bilateral relations and regional developments. He accused Israel of fabricating security threats related to Iran’s nuclear activities, asserting that Tel Aviv is a primary source of regional instability. While emphasizing Iran’s preference for diplomacy, he warned that the country would firmly respond to any threats against its security and interests.
The Iranian president highlighted the positive ties between Iran and Norway, expressing a willingness to enhance cooperation on regional and international matters. The Norwegian Prime Minister affirmed Norway’s commitment to maintaining diplomatic relations with Iran and supporting peaceful resolutions in West Asia.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he wanted to negotiate with Iran regarding its nuclear program and had sent a letter to the Iranian leadership. In response, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei dismissed calls for negotiations, asserting that Western powers aim not to resolve issues but to impose their will on Iran. He described their approach as one of coercion rather than genuine dialogue, as seen in footage released by his office.
As tensions persist, Iran continues to assert its nuclear program’s peaceful nature while resisting external pressure to alter its policies.
