Iraq resistance group threatens Arab states helping Israel break Houthi blockade

16 Jul. 24: The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has threatened Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, which are alleged to be helping Israel to circumvent the naval blockade imposed by Yemen’s Houthis on Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea, Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar newspaper has reported. The Houthis have imposed the blockade in solidarity with the Palestinians facing the occupation state’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

A member of the Hezbollah Al-Nujaba faction within the resistance group told the newspaper that Saudi Arabia has offered its territory to transport goods to Israel and break the blockade imposed by the Houthis. Firas Al-Yasser added that the Islamic Resistance factions have now shifted their focus on the kingdom over its assistance to Israel.

“There are corridors from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and some other Gulf states, as well as Türkiye, to deliver supplies to the [Israeli] enemy,” he explained. “If the trade balance between these countries and Israel were reviewed, we would find that trade has increased by a large percentage since 7 October, which is a confirmation of the support [to Israel] which is undeclared for fear of their people, but it exists.”

Houthis in Yemen have launched drone and missile attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, Bab El-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden since November in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
