New Delhi, August 14: In a significant address, Engineer Mohammed Salim, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), emphasized that Islam is fundamentally a freedom movement that seeks to liberate humanity from various forms of oppression. Speaking at a seminar on “The Making of Modern India and Role of Muslims in Freedom Movement” organized by the Institute of Studies and Research Delhi and JIH Delhi’s Department of Research here Sunday, he highlighted the profound impact of Islamic teachings on individuals and societies, asserting that Islam has always stood as a force against injustice and tyranny.
Engineer Salim pointed out that the core message of Islam is to free people from the shackles of ignorance, superstition, and all forms of social and economic exploitation. He stressed that Islam champions the rights of the oppressed and provides a comprehensive system for the upliftment and empowerment of individuals, ensuring their dignity and freedom.
He further elaborated that Islam’s principles, when implemented, have historically led to the establishment of just and equitable societies. According to him, the teachings of Islam promote the freedom of thought, expression, and belief, and advocate for the eradication of all forms of slavery, both physical and mental.
Engineer Salim also underscored the role of Islamic movements in history, which have consistently fought for the liberation of people from oppressive regimes and corrupt systems. He encouraged the attendees to recognize Islam as a dynamic and revolutionary force that continues to offer solutions to the challenges faced by modern societies.
The seminar concluded with a call to action, urging Muslims to actively participate in the global struggle for justice and freedom, guided by the timeless teachings of Islam.
