Colombo: The 10th edition of the Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia (IFFSA) was held at Shangri-La Colombo, celebrating a decade of excellence in Islamic finance and the 20th anniversary of its organizer, UTO EduConsult. The event brought together industry leaders, regulators, and policymakers from across South Asia to recognize innovation and progress in ethical finance.
The evening featured three key segments: the annual IFFSA Awards, the Decade of Excellence Awards, and the 20 Years of UTO celebration. Twenty institutions were honoured across thirty categories for their contribution to the growth and development of Islamic finance in the region.
Reyaz Mihular, former Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka and Maldives, and Aishath Asna Hamdhi, Deputy Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority, delivered keynote addresses. Both speakers emphasized the continued importance of Sharia-compliant finance in driving ethical investment and economic inclusivity.
Since its inception, IFFSA has served as a regional platform promoting collaboration between financial institutions and scholars engaged in Islamic banking and finance. The forum’s 10th edition reaffirmed South Asia’s increasing role in global Islamic finance, highlighting opportunities for innovation, sustainability, and cross-border cooperation.
The milestone event also marked two decades of UTO EduConsult’s work in professional education and industry development, reflecting a sustained commitment to advancing Islamic finance across the region.
