New Delhi – A cultural meeting marking the 1500th birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was held at Jamia Millia Islamia, focusing on Islamic unity through the lens of the Qur’an, history, and psychology. The event was organized by Iran’s cultural attaché in collaboration with the bureau of the Leader in India.
Farid Faridasr, Iran’s cultural attaché, described Islamic unity as a “virtuous lifestyle” rather than a theoretical idea. He stressed that unity must be internalized in both personal and social life, requiring discipline and self-purification. Without practical implementation, he noted, the teachings of the Qur’an and the Prophet’s example risk being reduced to slogans.
Professor Iqtidar Khan, president of Jamia Millia Islamia, underlined the social and political dimensions of unity in the Muslim world. He praised the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting unifying efforts and urged stronger cooperation among Muslim societies.
The conference was part of Islamic Unity Week events. In Peshawar, Iran’s cultural center also organized a seminar on the Prophet’s discipline in promoting Hadith. Mohammad Hassan Moazzami, deputy of Iran’s Consulate, said that confronting challenges facing Muslims today requires a return to the Prophet’s lifestyle and steadfastness against adversaries, including what he called “Zionist Israeli criminals.”
Both gatherings emphasized that unity, rooted in the Prophet’s teachings, is essential for addressing current issues and strengthening cooperation across the Muslim world.
