Tehran: Malik Motasim Khan, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has declared that Islamic unity is a primary source of power and resilience for the Muslim world, warning that internal division leaves the Ummah exposed to external threats and hegemonic designs.
Khan made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference, currently underway in Tehran from August 27 to 30. The conference also features sideline sessions and cultural events in the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad, as well as in Sunni-majority regions across West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Razavi Khorasan, and Golestan provinces.
Addressing delegates at the opening session, Khan stated that the solidarity of the Islamic Ummah was a foundational principle in the thought of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and remains a central pillar strongly emphasized by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Khan noted that the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) coincides with a pivotal era of profound geopolitical shifts and the emergence of a new global order. In this context, he stressed that freedom-seeking and independent nations must align along the path of solidarity and collective cooperation to navigate the sweeping transformations reshaping the international landscape.
The JIH Vice President pointed to the strategic guidance of Ayatollah Khamenei, who has consistently urged the Ummah to place Islamic fraternity above secondary differences and work actively toward cohesion to withstand external pressures.
Khan was direct in his conclusion: achieving genuine, practical unity is the only viable path for the Muslim world to move from vulnerability to collective strength, sovereignty, and influence on the global stage.
