Lebanese Hezbollah has reported the destruction of more than 50 Israeli Merkava tanks since the Israeli occupation army invaded southern Lebanon on 1 October, reports Middle East Monitor.
Over the past three days, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the destruction of a number of Merkava tanks. Five tanks were reportedly destroyed on the eastern outskirts of the coastal town of Al-Bayada, while one was taken out on the western outskirts of Deir Mimas.
Recent fighting in the Al-Bayada area resulted in the destruction of several tanks, forcing approximately 30 Israeli military vehicles to retreat towards the towns of Shama and Tayr Harfa, shielded by artillery fire from Israel.
Among the targeted tanks was one attempting to tow another that had previously been destroyed.
Since 22 November, Hezbollah has claimed to have destroyed more than 10 tanks, injuring their crews.
