Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates: New Wave of Missile Attacks and Civilian Casualties

The volatile conflict between Iran and Israel has taken a dangerous new turn as Iran launched another wave of ballistic missiles targeting various locations inside Israel. In retaliation, explosions were reported across Tehran, with thick plumes of smoke rising from neighborhoods like Jamaran and Valiasr Square, reported the Al Jazeera.
According to Israeli authorities, at least 13 people, including children, have been killed and 380 injured, with 22 locations across Israel hit by over 200 missiles and drones. Nine of the injured are in critical condition. The attacks triggered sirens and emergency alerts across several regions, prompting civilians to take shelter.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that more “severe and decisive” responses would follow if Israeli attacks continue, accusing Israel of committing crimes with the full support and permission of the United States. He called on regional nations to take a firm stand against Israeli aggression.
In a conflicting development, Iran denied reports that it had sent messages to Israel through intermediaries such as Cyprus, dismissing such claims as false.
Meanwhile, Tehran remains tense as fresh explosions shook the capital. Videos verified by Al Jazeera show black smoke clouds engulfing the sky in several districts.
Simultaneously, Israel is being condemned for deadly shootings at aid distribution sites in Gaza. Eyewitnesses claim Israeli forces fired at civilians, many of them starving, killing dozens and wounding more. Aid workers and observers have warned of a looming famine due to the ongoing blockade and military strikes.
On the international front, the UK signaled potential support for Israel, sending military assets to the region as a precaution to protect British bases. Finance Minister Rachel Reeves stated that while the UK’s primary focus is safeguarding its personnel, supporting allies like Israel remains on the table.
Analysts suggest that while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may hope to provoke U.S. military involvement, Washington appears reluctant. Former Israeli diplomat Alon Pinkas opined that Netanyahu’s real motive is to degrade Iranian military capabilities rather than disrupt ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear talks in Oman.
The situation remains fluid, with global leaders urging de-escalation to prevent a full-scale regional war.
