Israel-Iran Conflict: New Intel Chief Appointed as Tensions Soar into Eighth Day

The escalating conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its eighth consecutive day with no signs of slowing down. Both nations continue to launch missile attacks, intensifying an already volatile situation in the Middle East, reported the India Today.
In a significant development, Iran has appointed Brigadier General Majid Khadami as the new intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), following the killing of his predecessor in an Israeli airstrike. This marks the latest in a series of targeted assassinations by Israel, which has reportedly eliminated several high-ranking Iranian military officials in recent days.
The White House confirmed that President Donald Trump is expected to decide within two weeks whether the United States will engage militarily. A diplomatic solution remains on the table, but the window is narrowing rapidly.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed the nation, asserting that Iran remains steadfast and united in the face of external aggression. Meanwhile, Hezbollah’s deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem declared full support for Iran, emphasizing its resistance as rooted in “faith, knowledge, and freedom.”
India, reacting to the deteriorating conditions, has initiated Operation Sindhu to evacuate its citizens from Mashhad and other affected regions in Iran. The Indian Embassy in Tehran is coordinating the mission.
In the broader global response, European leaders, including UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, are set to meet Iran’s foreign minister in Geneva to push for renewed nuclear talks. While Israel insists its military actions aim to thwart Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Tehran maintains its program is peaceful.
The Israeli military has reported multiple Iranian missile launches, including one fitted with cluster munitions, allegedly aimed at increasing civilian casualties. In response, Israel has stepped up drone interceptions and issued evacuation warnings to Iranian civilians in potential strike zones.
As diplomatic channels work against the clock, fears grow that the conflict could engulf the region. Russia and China have condemned Israel’s actions, while Australia has closed its embassy in Tehran, citing deteriorating security conditions.
Amid these developments, Iranian officials claim that Israel’s attempts to destabilize the nation have failed, asserting their resilience in the face of foreign aggression.
