Israeli Defense Minister Issues Death Threat Against Iran’s Supreme Leader Amid Rising Tensions

In a startling escalation of rhetoric, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Sunday openly threatened to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, if Tehran continues what Israel perceives as hostile actions, reported the Andolu Ajansi.
During a visit to the Ramon Air Force Base in southern Israel, Katz stated, “I want to send a clear message from here to dictator Khamenei: If you continue to threaten Israel, our long arm will reach Tehran again with even greater power – and this time personally to you too.” His remarks were published by the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.
As of now, Iranian authorities have not issued an official response to Katz’s threat.
The statement comes in the aftermath of a 12-day conflict that erupted on June 13, when Israel carried out airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure. In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes. The United States, backing Israel, responded by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites.
The hostilities were halted following a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that came into effect on June 24, temporarily easing tensions in the region. However, Katz’s recent comments signal that the conflict could reignite if diplomatic efforts fail.
The threat marks a dangerous turn in Israel-Iran relations, which have long been strained due to ideological, strategic, and regional rivalries. Analysts warn that such inflammatory language from senior officials could further destabilize the Middle East.
