Gaza: Israeli-Russian citizen Alexander Turbanov, held captive in Gaza for over a year, has been released as part of a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel. Along with Sagui Dekel-Chen and Iair Horn, Turbanov was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 attack and was freed in exchange for 369 Palestinian prisoners.
In a video released by Hamas’ Al-Quds Brigades, Turbanov expressed deep appreciation for the humane treatment he received during his 498 days in captivity. He stated:
“Despite the aggression and crimes you endured, I learned the true meaning of manhood, heroism, and respect for humanity and values.”
He further emphasized that his captors preserved his dignity and health, surpassing conventional human rights laws and war protocols. His statements come at a time of escalating tensions in the region, fueling ongoing discussions about detainee treatment and potential ceasefires.
