Jabalpur Muslims Hold 24-Hour Dharna Against Waqf Bill, Momin Idgah Committee

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Muslims in Jabalpur staged a 24-hour dharna on Tuesday, demanding the withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill. The protest aligned with nationwide demonstrations by Muslim groups. Protesters also opposed the formation of a new committee for Momin Idgah.
They called the bill a government ploy to seize Waqf properties and interfere in religious matters.
As per the Free Press Journal, protest leader Sardar Abdul Hakeem Baba rejected the new committee, stating that ancestors founded Momin Idgah in Gohalpur, buying the land and building the masjid. He urged the government to dissolve the new panel and let Muslims manage it.
Protester Yakub Ansari announced a large demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, on March 17, as part of the national movement.
He criticized the new committee, calling its members unqualified and imposed by the government.
“Our ancestors sacrificed for Momin Idgah. We reject this decision and demand the committee’s withdrawal,” he said.
